Introducing Human State Infrastructure for Modern Systems

Modern software systems understand what users do, but not how users feel or function.
Clicks, taps, ratings, and text inputs have become the dominant form of “human feedback.” These signals are explicit, sparse, and often arrive too late to be useful. Meanwhile, humans continuously emit rich physiological and behavioral signals that reveal stress, focus, fatigue, calm, and engagement — signals that today’s systems largely ignore.
Today, we’re introducing Synheart — a privacy-preserving Human State Interface (HSI) infrastructure that enables modern systems to understand human state in real time, ethically, locally, and through standardized representations.
The Problem with Traditional Human Feedback
Most human–computer interaction systems rely on:
- Forms and surveys
- Button clicks and gestures
- Explicit user preferences
These inputs are:
- Interruptive — users must stop what they’re doing
- Incomplete — they capture intent, not internal state
- Delayed — feedback often arrives after the moment has passed
Yet human state is always present.
Stress, focus, emotional load, and behavioral patterns continuously influence decision-making and performance — but modern systems have no native way to perceive or represent them.
Human State as a First-Class Signal
Synheart introduces a new primitive for computing systems: human state.
Instead of collecting raw biosignals or subjective feedback, Synheart transforms physiological signals (such as heart-rate-derived features) and digital behavior into structured, machine-readable human state outputs.
These outputs describe what the human system is doing internally — not just what the user clicks.
Human state becomes a first-class signal, alongside time, location, and interaction.
The Human State Interface (HSI)
At the core of Synheart is the Human State Interface (HSI).
HSI is a foundational interface standard for representing and exchanging human state across independent systems — similar in role to GPS coordinates or HTTP responses.
HSI 1.0 provides:
- A canonical JSON contract for human state outputs
- Language-agnostic, platform-agnostic design
- Strong validation and interoperability guarantees
- Privacy-first semantics by design
HSI does not transmit raw biosignals.
It represents interpreted human state in a safe, structured form.
This allows systems to reason about human state without ever accessing sensitive biometric data.
Privacy by Default, On Device
Synheart is built with privacy as a non-negotiable constraint.
- Human state computation happens locally on device
- Raw biosignals never leave the user’s device
- Only structured HSI outputs are exposed to applications
- No cloud dependency is required
Users retain control. Developers get insight. Systems remain ethical.
Vendor-Agnostic Biosignal Access
To support a diverse wearable ecosystem, we’ve introduced Synheart Wear a while ago.
Synheart Wear is a vendor-agnostic library that reads biosignals from consumer wearables and normalizes them into a unified signal layer.
It abstracts away hardware differences so developers and researchers can focus on human state, not device-specific integrations.
Behavioral Signal Modeling
To complement physiological signals, Synheart includes Synheart Behavior — a cross-platform SDK for capturing and transforming digital interaction patterns into structured behavioral signals.
Synheart Behavior models how users interact with digital systems — such as timing, rhythm, switching, and interaction fragmentation — and converts these patterns into numerical behavioral features, without accessing content, text, or personal data.
The SDK abstracts application- and platform-specific interactions into a unified behavioral signal layer, allowing developers and researchers to reason about human behavior, not interface details.
These behavioral signals power downstream systems such as:
- Focus and distraction inference
- Digital wellness analytics
- Cognitive load and fatigue estimation
- Multimodal human state modeling
Important: Synheart Behavior analyzes interaction dynamics, not what users type, read, or see.
