Applications open · Founding Cohort 2026

We're building the community that builds Human-Aware AI.

For seventy years we taught machines to read everything about us except us. Our words, our clicks, our faces — and none of it told them how we were doing while we used them. The edge moved. Today we're opening applications for the people who get to build on the other side of it.

You build on the Human State Interface (HSI) — our open, on-device standard that reads the signal in how you interact (focus, load, recovery) and never what you type. It's a new sense to build on: an agent that knows when to interrupt, a tutor that slows when you're overloaded, a tool that notices the tenth hour instead of helping you go off a cliff.

What a Founding Builder does

Learn, build, demo, graduate.

01

Learn

HSI fundamentals and the SDK, with something real running in your first 30 minutes.

02

Build

Actual apps on the Flutter SDK, React SDK, REST API, or Life API. Starter templates, open-source examples, staffed office hours, a private Discord.

03

Demo

Monthly Demo Days. Ship small, ship often, show the room.

04

Graduate

Founding Builders get first access to Statecraft, our in-person hackathon in Montréal, where you'll arrive already knowing the tools and each other.

The code we build by

Five rules, and they are the point.

This power comes with five rules — break them and the cleverest build is out.

1

State, never content.

How you interact, not what you type.

2

Detect, never diagnose.

Change, honestly named — no labels, no verdicts.

3

On the person's terms.

State stays on-device by default; nothing reads it without a clear yes.

4

Dignity is not optional.

Built for people's hardest days, never to make anyone feel watched.

5

The human stays in the loop.

We serve judgment, never override it.

Why "Founding" means something

The first cohort is small, and invite-first.

Roughly twenty people. You get the earliest SDKs, a direct line to our engineers, a Founding Builder badge, and your name on the wall of the people who got here first. Years from now, being a Founding Builder should mean what early contributor means on any platform that mattered — because your work is what taught everyone else what this primitive was for.

Under two minutes. Tell us who you are, point us at your GitHub, and tell us what you'd build.

We use your answers only to review your application and contact you about the cohort. Nothing is shared. You can ask us to delete your application any time.
